Gems are one of the most valuable resources in Stick War: Legacy, but earning them efficiently has become much harder after recent updates. Instead of guessing or relying on outdated advice, I tested the main gem sources currently available in the game to see which ones are actually worth your time.
This article is based on hands-on gameplay testing across different modes, focusing on time spent versus gems earned. Since rewards can vary slightly, the results below should be treated as realistic averages, not guaranteed outcomes.
The gameplay tests discussed in this article are recorded in the video below for transparency and reference.
Campaign Grinding (Normal Mode)
The most common gem farming method is replaying campaign missions in normal mode using upgraded Swordwrath units. By skipping the opening phase, enabling auto-attack, and letting the units destroy the statue, each run takes about 45 seconds.
- Time per run: ~45 seconds
- Gems per run: ~5 gems
- Hourly potential: ~300–350 gems (with constant play)
While this method is very simple and requires almost no interaction, it is also extremely repetitive and heavily interrupted by ads after each battle.
Verdict: Easy and reliable, but slow and mentally draining.
Campaign Completion Rewards (Hard & Insane)
If you have already completed normal mode, the most efficient one-time gem source is finishing the harder campaign difficulties.
- Normal mode completion: ~500 gems
- Hard mode completion: ~1,000 gems
- Insane mode completion: ~1,500 gems
Completing Hard and Insane modes takes time (roughly a few hours total), but the gem rewards are significantly better than repetitive grinding. This is a one-time reward, but it is absolutely worth doing.
Verdict: Best one-time gem payout in the game.
Watching Ads for Gems (Shop Method)
The shop allows players to watch a limited number of ads to earn gems. Typically, you can watch up to four ads before a cooldown is applied.
- Gems per ad: ~10 gems
- Ads per cycle: ~4
- Cooldown: ~30–35 minutes
Depending on ad length, this method can be faster than campaign grinding, but it is inconsistent and still interrupted by long cooldowns.
Verdict: Low effort, but not reliable for large gem amounts.
Chests – No Longer Reliable
Chests used to be one of the best ways to earn gems through duplicate skins, but recent changes heavily reduced their value.
- Maximum of 4 stored chests
- Only one chest can be unlocked at a time
- High chance of spells instead of skins
Because duplicate skins now appear less frequently, chests are no longer a dependable gem source. Most rewards are spells, which cannot be converted into gems.
Verdict: Not recommended for gem farming.
Crown of Immortal – Avoid This Mode
The Crown of Immortal tournament appears rewarding on the surface, but testing shows it is one of the worst options for earning gems.
- Gem rewards are inconsistent
- Gems may decrease after battles
- Long match times (2–4 minutes)
In several cases, gems earned during battles were partially removed afterward, making the time investment extremely inefficient.
Verdict: Avoid completely if your goal is gem farming.
Missions & Spell Rewards
Missions themselves do not give many gems, but they can reward powerful spells. While spells do not directly convert into gems, they can improve performance in other modes.
This method is more valuable for long-term progression rather than direct gem farming.
Verdict: Useful indirectly, but not for quick gems.
Endless Deads Mode
Endless Deads offers 10 gems per completed night, but the difficulty and time investment increase rapidly.
- Early nights: ~1–2 minutes
- Later nights: 5–10+ minutes
- Reward: ~10 gems
As nights become longer, the gems-per-minute ratio drops significantly, making this mode inefficient over time.
Verdict: Not worth grinding for gems.
Final Ranking – Best to Worst Gem Methods
- Hard & Insane Campaign Completion (Best one-time reward)
- Normal Campaign Grinding
- Watching Ads
- Chests
- Endless Deads
- Crown of Immortal (Worst)
Final Thoughts
If you want gems efficiently in Stick War: Legacy, completing Hard and Insane campaigns should be your top priority. For ongoing farming, normal campaign grinding is still the most reliable option, despite being slow and repetitive.
Many modes appear rewarding at first glance but fail when you factor in time, ads, and inconsistent payouts. Future updates may change gem rewards, so always test methods again after major patches.
